Dear Get Better Sound owners,
Welcome to this interim issue of Quarter Notes!
It’s past time for Volume 3, #1.
Unfortunately, this isn’t it. It’s an update.
For the past few months I have had a health issue that has gotten progressively worse. It’s made it very difficult for me to sit at a computer for any time at all.
The good news is that now I have the first of two surgeries scheduled to address the problem.
Turns out that all of the physical labor and crawling around in rooms over the years, moving furniture, speakers, etc. has taken a toll on the cartilage in my hips. In fact, multiple MRIs show that I have hardly any cartilage left.
This reminds me of a tube amplifier. Each day you use it, the tubes get slightly worse. But it’s so gradual, and it takes place over a relatively long period of time (if you’re lucky), that you never notice it, until one day you realize things don’t sound as effortless and clean as they once did.
Over a year ago, I stared noticing that my RoomPlay™ clients were offering to help me more and more with physical efforts. I just thought I had met an unusual run of exceedingly nice folks. Well, they were, but that’s not the point.
They had already noticed my more limited movement and pain, well before I did.
But several months ago it took a much sharper turn for the worse. And I finally realized there was a problem.
The first big thing (to me, anyway) was having to cancel RMAF. Show Director Marjorie Baumert graciously allowed me to back out.
The first hip replacement is scheduled for November 30.
Now, back to Quarter Notes.
I have some of it written. I think it will be the best yet. I’m just not sure when I can get it finished.
I wanted you to know that you didn’t miss the 9th issue, and that it is actually in some level of completion even now.
Thanks for your support and your patience.
Wishing you All the Best in Music & Sound,
